Domaine Georges Roumier
Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Gorgeous. Soulful and intense. Garrigue and plum and dark sour cherry. Inky and poised. Herbal edges and a velvety mouthfeel. Superb stuff.

Feb 29th, 2024The 2001 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is consistent with the bottle tasted in 2018. It leaps from the glass with red fruit, orange blossom and Earl Grey, sprightly though not intense. It is imbued with Christophe Roumier's unerring sense of transparency. The palate is precise and focused, sculpted with the finest chisel in the box, long and tender with exuberant Pinoté on the finish. Just delicious. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2023)

Jan 20th, 2023Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. Reddish tawny color. Looks young still. Notes of red fruit, rhubarb, dark soil, macerated cherries. Chewy. Sweet perfume. Coats the mouth. Nice finish. I brought this and upon opening early in the morning, I was all smiles as this was singing and ready for business right away. Perhaps I left it in the decanter too long as this went quiet a bit and was not peacocking in the afternoon like it was in the morning. My rating reflects the early performance.

Apr 18th, 2021Light reddish tawny. Sweet Bing cherry nose. Also notes of raspberries, rhubarb, wet soil, sois bois, some kirsch and some spice. Ethereal and complex in the mouth. Rich and round. In a perfect place right now. No signs of this on any sort of decline yet. Burgundy at its absolute best... and as one of the boyz said tonight, "bottles like this... it's the pinnacle of Burgundy!" (Bday 7 of 13)

Aug 2nd, 2020Reddish tawny, translucent. Youthful looking, especially when compared to its older brother the 1990 next to it. Tart Bing cherry nose. Also notes of rhubarb, earth, pepper and some spice. Young in the mouth. Still has some pucker and is very refined. Gave this 7 hours of air in the decanter and it needed every minute to open up and show its power and potential. Had wanted to check in on some big 93s and it's clear these bottles are built for the long haul. If you target the consumption of any similar 93s, be sure to give em lots of air. (Bday 6 of 13)
