Another visit to the weekly Wednesday Wine Committee, and a wonderful hosting by Glenn. As always, all wines are tasted blind. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert.

Ripe and a little hot. Picked up the ABV here more than the others. Rich in style with red, blue and black fruits. Little bit of smoked meats and black pepper/peppercorn finish. At this age, it’s more modern in style. Give it time.

Lavender, smoke, rice cake, sparkling summer river water, ripe, red plum aromatics. Raspberry, plum, light cedar and cinnamon, dry oregano, sandy soils echoing fine grained tannins. Silky, plum oil seductively lounges on your tongue, undulating through the rich black olive and plum cider finish.

2011 vintage. Great for $39.99. Crowd pleasing, smooth tannins, ripe fruits. Her CdR is a fantastic value too!

One of my absolute favorites. Still needed some decanting but it changed really well throughout. Earthy, spicy nose. Candy like notes, but not too sweet. Silky smooth, licorice, black jam, and a little herby.

First time I had had this type of wine. I will definitely get this in the future. It’s really good for what I like.

2019 vintage. On the old-school side of dry and dusty vs ripe and plushy. Leaner and meaner. Medium body with big grip up front and thinning out, bodywise, on the finish but still dragging the spice box all the way to the finish. 9.6.23.

2019 vintage. Berries and earth in the nose. Medium-heavy body. Big earth, spice and cigar/tobacco components. Definitely old-school CDP with a demonstrative finish. 7.27.23.

Very hard to evaluate as the wine is (for me) to young. Components are there and a solid backbone of fruit, so maybe in 7 years it’s due for a retry. In the nose-strong air cured meat and hoisin. In the palette aggressive red fruit with bracing tannins with a hint of smoke in the finish
