Gorgeous—ripe red berries, fine powdery tannins, earthy and gamey tones, some cedar and subtle vanilla.

Burger wine! 😋

There's something fiery in its heart, meaty in its depths, chewy in its texture. And carnal in its nature.

While he might be writing about a different varietal altogether, I felt this line from Andrew Jefford perfectly captured the wine. It was floral, earthy, salty, meaty, and wildly textured. The words “furry” and “velvet” came to mind. “Carnal” and “feral” rang true, yet the fruit could not have been any cleaner and brighter. And perhaps most importantly, it was mighty digestible and downright reinvigorating. For me, a decade old and at its absolute peak.

Freshly crushed strawberry, rhubarb, blackberry, white pepper, rosemary, lavender, game, mushroom, and fresh herbs. Pale ruby, slightly garnet rim, high acidity, supple diminished tannins. 😋

Sooooo much potential and joy ahead for this wine.

Needed an hour to breathe and the shake, but the red fruit, balance and tension were impressive for 2014. Red cherry, touch of summer strawberry and cut flowers. In a good place now with air.

Best value in Villages. 16 more electric and interesting but 15 showed well all day. 15 was rich and tasted of dark cherry, summer strawberry and spice but worry about lifespan.
