Domaine Faiveley (Joseph Faiveley)
Mercurey Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir
Mercurey, Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy, France
Classic and reliable right out of the gate but also delish on day 2. Pinot funk is immediately evident on the aromatic nose. Always a bit more concentrated and sappy than fruit from further north. More expensive than ever before but still worth it IMHO.

Big surprise and very impressed for such a young burg. Delicate notes of cola and black cherries on the nose and palate. Plush presentation on the mid palate with weight and a velvety texture. Relaxed tannins and moderate acidity make this a buy at the right price.

Can’t stop, won’t stop. Enjoyed by everyone at the table. Beautiful pop and pour.

Like a strawberry patch after a light rain. Pure red fruits and damp soil. Silky and polished. Probably a bit too new world for some but I find it absolutely delicious.

More expensive every vintage and still worth it in my opinion. More about pleasure than complexity. Consistently delicious juice.

Quite herbaceous. Black tea, dark red fruit, just a touch cherry here, earthy, dusty. 40$. As young wine drinkers are not recruited any more to try these wines - Burgundy will loose its appeal - and really - German Pinots are now more interesting, diverse and most importantly less $$$ for better quality.
