Dark fruited and oaky. Plenty of stuffing here, but it's just not my kind of red Burg. Blackberries and plums on the nose, with heaps of earthy forest floor character and vanillin oak. The palate is quite concentrated and comes across as sucking on a blackcurrant lozenge. Oaky spice flows from the mid-palate, and finishes meaty with hints of earthy minerals. There's definitely balance and complexity here, but just lacks a little finesse. I guess some might even call this classic Gevrey, but where does Rousseau fit in that definition 🤣

Great purity - lovely intensity with graphite minerality, violet, cranberry, cherry and forest floor. Very long finish

Candied cherry, pomegranate, and tart red fruit. dried herbs, cinnamon, and damp earth. M+ acid, m body and tannin. Bay leaf and minerality. Great structure.

Just gorgeous, but tightly wrapped-up at present, so patience is required. Great fruit, all pure, and positively on the red, tart side, but there's substantial depth glowing beneath, just waiting to emerge.

2000. Great structure - surprised at how the tannin holds on still. The oak balances out with some nice subtle fruit hanging on. Solid wine.
