Joseph Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir

Last of 3 bottles. Ripe black cherries. Medium plus bodied. Great volume in the mouth. The second night, notes of raspberry. As stated in previous notes the ripeness of the fruit would lead one to think this could be new World.

Sappy red and black cherries. Bright red fresh fruits with notes of pepper and spice. I could be convinced this was new world if tasted blind. An element of astringency at the finish. An excellent village red Burgundy. After a few hours, still fresh and vibrant. Have the next in a year or two.

Odd little Gevery. Orange rind citrus nose.

Deserves a repost. Half a bottle two days later. There's a lot here. Generously sweet fruit that's light and bright. A light feral edge, and a hint of blue fruit from time to time. It's a square, big-shouldered wine, structured enough to cut through plenty of fat on your palate, but the tannins are well managed. Loamy dirt flavor. I'd love to have more of this.

A bit more fruit driven than I would expect. Nicely done, but not all that interesting.

Benchmark.

Lovely and balanced. Great pheromonal and barnyard bouquet. Strong projection and long finish. Very nice wine still showing some youth
