Apparently I like Trousseau. I only heard of it recently, but this is the second iteration of the style that I have enjoyed. Dry and French; meaning terroir in the nose, light mouthfeel, warm alcohol and tongue parching finish.

Trousseau from the countryside. Rustic, earthy, tannic, with room for smoothing. This could use a few years.

Cherry chewing tobacco with mint menthol. Big salts, big minerals, grippy.

Just missing a touch to elevate it to great. Still solid. Fruity without being sweet at all—has a moderate zing. Cherry more than berry. Some earthiness. Like an almost-great Pinot.

July 23, 2018. Checking out light, summer reds in my cellar. This is a sleeper, for sure! Offered at a Top Ten Wines tasting that I could not attend, Sept 2017, I pre-ordered this based on a description I found online. It is made from the Trousseau grape, from the Jura. Described as “light and perfumed, it is just that. Deep salmon color, a hint of strawberry on the nose, but not overly fruity on the palate with nice acidity. Great summer sipper. Wish I had a case. 😁
