My first time tasting this producer, I would be lying if I said I did not have very high expectations. Scents of earth , flowers, spice and oak. As one would expect from this vintage fruit but it is not overdone that is joined at the hip with some serious mineral overtones. I have no clue what this sells for at the cellar door but secondary prices have to be based on one thing, scarcity.

I absolutely love the 18’s from Louis Michel. It’s aromatics soar and the palate seduces with its luxurious texture, verve and purity of fruit. So so giving, and so much to offer as a young wine. Village? Wow.

Comte Liger Belair Vosne Romanée 2017 is such a gorgeous wine. Signature CLB aromatics and expression that always drinks so well young. Of course, it doesn’t have the length of the upper echelon wines in the range, but you may not even notice if  it wasn’t standing alongside the big guns. Outstanding village.

Intoxicating aromatics. Oak presence is well felt - turns out it’s 100% new - but there’s also a raft of florals, think roses and violets along with ripe dark cherry and plum. Really composed in the palate with seemless acidity & oak tannin just making itself known pulling in at the back. Impressive wine, would be decisive though due to heavy handed oak.
