Nose is fantastic. Orchard flowers. White peach. Orange blossom, honey, apricot. A great long finish. Just not as mineral/acid driven as the best Savennières in more classic vintages. Just slightly off dry. Has the ‘18 ripeness that I’ve found nearly overwhelming. Nothing wrong with it but the wines are less crisp and versatile. Will probably avoid purchasing more of the vintage going forward.

Jul 17th, 2020This is a journey in a glass. Pure golden color with great reflection. Massive floral aromatics with honey and apricots, hints of petrol (botrytis perhaps) and ripe mango. Soft, sweet tropical fruit on the entry drying out on the mid palate with a slightly bruised golden apple character, offering a rounded mouthfeel (sur lie aging). Subtle minerality on the finish, brings an herbal tea component in wonderful contrast to the almost pillowy texture on the mid palate. Med + body, high acidity, moderate alcohol, extremely versatile and food friendly. Technical notes notwithstanding, this is a Chenin Blanc of such remarkable complexity, finesse, power and balance; the sheer range and magnitude of flavors and aromas make it very difficult to describe. Pure, classic, regal. Simply lovely.

Feb 21st, 2018Bruised apples, slight bitterness, blue cheese, and an amazing unctuousness to it. This was spectacularly good.

Jan 11th, 2018Petrol, bruised apples, orange, fall piles of leaves. Maybe a little past it’s prime, but a good experience.
