Deep, vivid garnet. Assertive aromas of fresh dark berries, cherry cola, potpourri and exotic spices, along with vanilla and espresso notes that emerge as the wine opens up. Appealingly sweet, fleshy and seamless in texture, offering concentrated black raspberry, cherry liqueur, vanilla and spicecake flavors and a suave pastille nuance. Velvety tannins build steadily on the finish, which hangs on with superb, floral- and spice-driven persistence. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2022)

The weekend is almost over and I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend? Tonight I have opened the 2017 Domaine Drouhin Laurène Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
On the nose there is beautiful fruit of cherry, raspberry, cranberry, cinnamon, cola, sage, herbs, spice and earth.
On the palate are cherries, raspberries, pomegranate, cinnamon, hibiscus, spice, vanilla and a subtle earth play.
The wine is medium bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and medium + acidity and medium polished fine tannins that leads into a wonderfully long fresh red fruit earthy finish. This is another beautiful pinot noir from Domaine Drouhin in Oregon. Please stay safe and healthy and have a great week ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Saturday night and I felt like having a good Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. I have opened the 2012 Domaine Drouhin Laurène Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
On the nose there is strawberry, cherry, cranberry, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, rose petal, a hint of smoke and fresh earth.
On the palate I am getting strawberry, tart cherry, cranberry, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, spice, a hint of oak and a nice earth note.
This wine is medium bodied that fills the palate with medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that moves right into a medium + to long red fruit finish. Seems as though we are moving out of our 3 month slumber very briskly and there are those that think that all is normal. Please continue to practice social distancing, stay healthy and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

The 2011 Domaine Drouhin ‘Laurene’ is a sensational effort from this cooler vintage in Oregon. This takes on a classic Burgundian nose with forest floor, white truffle oil, red currant puree and suggestions of white pepper. I love the elegance of this wine aromatically. The mouthfeel and texture to this wine screams elegance, as it is surprising that they were able to attain this level of concentration despite the coldness of the vintage. Red cherry puree, damp earth, cran-raspberry and orange zest flavors marvelously combine. Elegant and esteemed, this is a stunning effort by Domaine Drouhin that will cellar marvelously over the next decade. Drink 2018-2028- 94

Difficult vintage which only 45 barrels were made, half of what normally is made. Luckily they picked before the massive rains. Mossy pomegranate with balanced acids. Tasting next to 2014 which was a better vintage comparatively.

Light ruby, little oak on the nose. Tart/sour cherries, orange peel, orange blossom and violets. Medium plus to elevated acidity and smooth tannins, moderate plus body. [valcanic soil, 100% de-stemmed, 20% new french oak, mostly stainless still]
