Clos de L'Échelier Dampierre Sur Loire Saumur Champigny Cabernet Franc

Denser than 2013, riper, sweeter fruit. The most mainstream of the haut cuvées but by no means an indictment. Deep, dark and primary in its youth.

Densely concentrated, rich, and detailed. A brilliant example of Cabernet Franc. #loirevalley

2014. Old vine Cabernet Franc growing directly out of solid limestone. It's taken me a while to wrap my brain around the greatness of Thierry Germain's wines. They are coiled springs unfolding in a slow trajectory towards pristine black raspberry fruit and scents of rain-washed earth. Dare I say finer examples of raw Saumur-Champigny terroir than Clos Rougeard.

2014. All the juicy raspberries and wet stones. Would love to taste this in a few years.

Damn! A fuller style but still elegantly textured, with very good balance and very youthful right now. Need to hide the rest for a few years

Nose was super tight.... just hints of raspberries, white peppers and pencil... medium bodied, great acid structure with lots of minerality .. grainy tannins with super long finish ... I mean it really stays in your mouth with little acidic tingle on the tip of the tongue and a warm sensation throughout
