A poor man’s St. Joseph (and I ain’t rich). Peppery, minerally, blackberry fruit scents are lifted and wafty. Mouthfilling but lean, if that’s a thing. Great acids.

Great value. Tastes like a high quality Saint-Joseph. Nose exudes pungent cracked granite and black peppercorns, and dark dry blackberry skins. A wee bit of baking spice. Rich, savory, intense flavors. Very pure and long. Very good acidity.

One of the greatest values I sell. Such serious wine for little Scratch. Nose of earthy minerals, deep berry fruit, violets, and some nice herbal notes. Terrific. Palate is fresh and vibrant, sappy, fresh fruit. Red fruits presented on a slab of granite. Great texture. Amazing what a year or so has done to this wine. Such juicy fruit and velvety tannins. Rustic in the best way possible.

2012. 100% Stainless Steel Syrah from vineyards near St. Joseph. Shocking nose of deep bright berry fruit. It is so intense out of the gates. Earthy nose like a Bordeaux as well. Great concentration and power. So juicy. Very pure. Such a great value. Terrific notes of bitter cocoa develop after a while.

Wow this is in a great place. Huge meaty, gamey, bloody, floral glorious Syrah nose. Hints of confectionary sugar. Very sappy and concentrated and charmingly rustic, with its firm mineral tannins. I love this. So juicy and complete. This is a terrific value. Wow!

Super delicious wine. Big tannins. Tastes like cheap Bordeaux with earth/mineral up front and nice sweet earthy fruit in back.

Delicious. Lots of black pepper on the nose. Intense red/black fruit sifted through stones. Very good Syrah.

This is a really fun bottle of syrah. It reminds me of the early days of the Aussie shiraz fad, when they were still fun and frooty and before they got ridiculous. The fruit here is very pure and richer in concentration than I expected, but still fresh and tangy, with a savory salinity that maybe gestures at the classic bacon thing. Some edgy tannin emerges the longer it's open.
