In 1953, Jean Baumard acquired vineyard in Quarts de Chaume, in 1968, purchased substantial acreage in Savennieres. Today Jean’s son, Florent, manages the winery. Aromas of green fruits, floral and flinty notes. On the palate green apple, pear, melon and slight nutty flavors, well balanced with acidity. Medium+ length ending, no fluttering with fresh juicy mineral, just like the butterfly on the label! Aging well, had a ‘15 about a year ago!

No flaws, but no real excitement either. Even the aromatics were a bit underwhelming.

Tropical fruit, lemon, salinity on the finish. Really beautiful.

Lovely Chenin Blanc, with a white melon start followed by a sour finish. Nose smells of citrus fruit. A very enjoyable weekend wine.

Had the opportunity to taste this next to the 2014 vintage. A lot of tropical fruit: pineapple, melon and ripe sweet apples. Too sweet for my personal liking.
