This has some real body and viscosity to it. Very toasty and umami on the nose, sake lees, lemon, fennel seed, kelp, salt, rocks. Not exactly textbook Muscadet for your typical oysters pairing but went great with sushi

2014. Exaggerated oily texture, due to extended sur lie aging. Fennel bulb, celery leaf, sea salt, wet stones. Massive to the point of lacking balance. Never my favorite Muscadet, but I respect Bossard and his regimen. #muscadet #melondebourgogne

L’Ecu makes some of the most interesting and unique Muscadets out there. This one is whistle clean and a bit riper and more aromatic than your average Muscadet due to the warmer vintage but it’s still totally fresh and bracing like you’d want from a good Muscadet.

- Color: medium (-) intensity straw gold with green tinges, day bright
- Nose: ripe green apple, just-ripe starfruit, wet stone and saline crushed oyster shell, iodine, yeasty leesiness, apple blossom and white florals, and a tiny bit of lanolin-y, Chenin-esque character that I’ll chalk up to the warmer vintage.
- Palate: just-ripe green apple and star fruit, apple blossom, wet stones and briny salinity, cheesy lees notes, chervil
- Acid: high
- RS: Bone dry
- Alcohol: moderate and unobtrusive
- Body: medium (-), oily round texture contributed by lees

Such a pure expression of the fruit... Une pure eau de roche!

Great acid and salinity. Pass the oysters!

Green apples, fresh squeezed lemon juice, nutty, buttery and zippy acidity. Hint of saltiness reminds me of salt sprinkled on fresh brioche. Wish I had some fresh oysters to go with this.

Citrus blend with white & yellow florals on the nose. Touch creamy and waxy on the palate. Lemon/lime zest, grapefruit, underripe green melon close to the rhine, whiff of white peach, yellow & white florals, granite in the minerality with a round, nice finish.

Nice breadth as counterpoint to the acidity and minerality. Juicy fruit. Nice with smoked salmon. Good value. Biodynamic!

From magnum this time, a little softer on the acidity than my last bottle of 2013. Still a good match for fatty meat snacks and tiny fish though.
