Domaine de la Mordorée
La Reine des Bois Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
Nice looking bottle. Youngish appearance in the glass. Dark cranberry color, almost opaque. Meaty nose. Notes of red and black fruits, charcuterie, currants and dried herbs. Chewy in the mouth at first, with an edge that mellows with air. Some pepper notes, some kirsch and the Grenache profile emerges over time. A very good CdP, I must say.

Feb 22nd, 2020This bottle was a fast bus headed straight into the heart of Funky Town which, I typically don’t mind at all. In this case however, there wasn’t enough of other things going on to make it more interesting. Barnyard, red fruits, spices and undigested hay. A good wine but expected more considering the pedigree of the producer. The relatively weak vintage could have something to do with it.

Mar 6th, 2019Maybe it's the vintage, but this wine is pleasantly ripe with out a hint of heat or stewed fruitiness that seems to be rampant throughout the CDP region. Very fresh but not lacking complexity. I think this will be a very well aged wine in the future.

Sep 26th, 2017Last Friday was our normal 4th Friday happy hour at the storage facility, but since this month had 5 Fridays, why not keep the party going?!
The 2010 CdPs are killing it right now. The structure on this shows that it is just now beginning to start to climb towards its peak. Decadent chocolate, smoked meats, rhubarb pie. In 3-5 yrs, you could sip this through a straw!

Lovely wine. Some star struck cross between mushrooms and dried flowers. Soft fruit gives way to its bolder earth. Elegantly structured and beautifully layered. This will only improve with a few years rest.
