Domaine de la Chanteleuserie
Cuvée Alouettes Bourgueil Cabernet Franc
Nose has recently crushed granite, grilled/warmed black cherry, dried citrus, (minor) moist cedar sawdust, licorice, red Twizzlers© candy and white pepper.
Palate has ripe cherry, dried cherry, fresh orange zest, dark chocolate shavings, dried blueberries, all very round and complete on the palate. Medium-short finish. Definite improvement with additional age!
About two years since our last bottle, doing quite well this evening, can hold another 4-6Y (2024-26) in proper storage.

Excellent gateway Cabby Frank and always one of the better values in the Kermit Loire portfolio. Cool, ferrous, fruits de sous-bois, shade wrapper leaf. Complete, sumptuous and satisfying.

Dec 6th, 2019Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion into the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.
Nose of wet granite and dusty black cherry. Palate is interesting, cherry with orange zest, mocha lingers.

A bird incorporated on the label, and the name Chanteleuserie means a 'place where the larks sing', located outside of the village of Benais, in Touraine, Loire Valley. Deep purple pronounced aromas of floral and black fruits. On the palate blackberry and blueberry flavors with bell pepper and tomato leaf notes. Medium+ tannins with lively acidity on a medium length finish. Great value, can even improve in bottle in next few years. ‘18 a bit better than ‘17.

Good minerallity and acidity, green pepper characteristics. A little too tannic for such a lite body though. Needed to age a few years.

Oct 22nd, 2016Verrrry light. Pretty. Tart cherry, lingonberry. Light green peppercorn. Not your typical muscular bourguiel.
