Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend

Did not live up to expectations. Wooly, lacking fruit, and like sucking on a copper bar. Time didn’t help this much. Disappointed.

In a very nice spot. Strawberry and leather and cedar. Excellent acidity.

First bottle from a split case. Glad we waited until now. Full of fruit, well balanced, luscious wine. Many years left to go.

Drinking well

Textbook CDP with a slightly firmer that usual structure and great backbone. Still in its youth with tons of age worthy potential. Glad I have more in the cellar for years down the road.

Wild and wooly, Andrew Guard imports. Be nice to see in a few years, bit of musky

A very pretty that definitely needs a good decanting. Rich and bold immediately, the nose features some floral accents to go with the lively blue and black fruits. A touch of leather, a dash of spice, and a bit of dark chocolate.

Needs decanting to truly blossom but when it does you will be rewarded. Rich and full but not overbearing. Smooth, velvety tannins with a luscious mouthfeel. Delicious notes of raspberry, cherry, and a touch of boysenberry on the palate. Dark chocolate and a little new leather. The finish is moderately long with an added kick of black pepper to boot. Such a nice CdP but it really does need time to age and to breathe.

Deeper, riper, similar garrigue aromas are present but the fruit overwhelms it at present.

Chocolate and spice smack you in the face with this wine on the nose and then same same on the taste.

Opened and let breathe in bottle for 4 hours. No decant. Very smooth and showed some dark fruit with the spice.

Overall very good but might have lost out to the Barolo poured against it

Once again drinking very nicely. Strawberry and bright cherry, red licorice.
