Been a while. Nose is a bit quiet. Some floral and lanolin. Maybe too cold? Palate is rich and ripe with lovely creamy persistence and terrific freshness. Very pure, lovely acidity and really lienear. Very impressive.

Very pure Marsanne fruit in the nose: bitter pear, guava, slight note of pungent heavy metal minerality, and lanolin. Soft on entry but then structures up, full body, nice mix of fruit and minerality. Nice freshness too.

This wine was at its best on the THIRD night it was open. If we had any left, would it be better on #4?

This wine NEEDS air. The first night it had such an overwhelmingly vegetal nose (like the gooey insides of tomatoes that are on their way out) it was almost undrinkable. But on night two this caterpillar had turned into a butterfly. Bitter honey, lanolin, intense stony minerals, and bitter pear scents. (Still a little tomato thing if you're looking for it.) Broad and oily-textured in the mouth. Loads of minerals and burnt bitter honey. The bitter pear fruit too. Low acids. Long dark minerally finish. Air this one out and it's quite nice and unusual.

UPDDATE: (a couple of hours later on night 2). Keeps getting better. Finish longer and less bitter. Waxy ripeness showing through. Upping to 8.9.

Chasselvin crozes hermitage blanc. 2013. Wow. One of the best under thirty whites all year rich but well balZnced. Not too much like many Rhone whites.

An excellent basic white Rhone, honey and white blossoms, lychee fruit, coriander and orange peel (yes, Belgium white beer aromas and flavors). Juicy and fresh, this tastes like springtime. Great with herb roasted or grilled fish.

Been a while since I've had this. Nose is sleekly mineral with nice yellow fruits. Palate is deep and juicy but with that terrific 2014 N Rhone freshness and acidity. Really tingles. Such nice texture and juiciness. Really showing well.

The 13 is in an odd place now but the 14 is rocking. Mineral, clean and airy nose. Palate is elegant and vibrant with lovely density, freshness, texture and that unique Marsanne minerality. So pure and fresh. As it warms it becomes more complex and interesting.
