Domaine David-Beaupère
Juliénas Vayolette Gamay
Good, but not my favorite Gamay. The palate is a bit dry and a flavor of dried cherry fruit is burdened by too many tannins.

1 person found it helpfulOct 10th, 2016This is stunning. The color is highly saturated, almost like a Cali Petite Sirah, but totally luminous. Nose is redolent of ripe, zingy red berries and clean cracked stones. Ridiculously pure, intense fruit, with nice subtle stones underneath. But the acidity is totally unexpected for a '15, and really pulls this together. This is at the genius level of a Thivin cru. Wish I had more than one. Exceptional. And I had never even heard of this producer before!
UPDATE: I just noticed that the back label says 15%. Glad I didn't see that before I rated it as it probably would have negatively affected my rating. Never seen a 15% Bojo before. Thank you coal.

Bomb of a CruBeauj! 15%alc. Never knew such a beast existed. Tasted at Arl. Most dif of the 40 crubeauj that night. Shared this at work and went over everyone's head. Warm, Dark plummy types of fruit. Not unbalanced despite the crazy alc.

Dec 11th, 2018This is good and very representative of the vintage; big and ripe red fruit, touch of minerals and earth, clay; edgy with a tart zing of cranberry on the mid-palate; a tad boozy (15% alc, a bit higher than why I expect for a Bojo); nice acidity and still very firm tannins.

Jun 19th, 2018This is a gigantic Beaujolais! I like it better than I did a few months ago. Cola, cherries, berries, a touch of jam and done acidity. Enjoyable but not what I'm looking for from this style of wine.

Jan 10th, 2018Started out great, but got a little boozy. At the end reminded me of a blowsy Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 15% abv.

Nov 19th, 2017Very fruit forward and big, representative of the year. Overall nice juiciness and acid. I'm not loving most of the 2015 Beaujolais.
