Ripe, juicy red fruits and herbs on the nose. Ripe cherries and sweet spices, vanilla, intense and full bodied, smooth and thin, easy to drink but powerful. Light tannins.

The 2016 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has an intense bouquet with blackberry, redcurrant and cranberry scents laced with tobacco and woodland aromas. Lovely definition and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, enormous depth and great concentration, perhaps the most Musigny-esque of the Bonnes-Mares. Great length but it needs some serious cellaring. Enormous potential here. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2019)

Oct 24th, 2019Medium red. Sexy scents of cranberry, dried flowers, dried herbs, pepper and spices. Wonderfully dense and sappy on the palate. In a cooler, more metallic style than the Clos de Bèze but with superb precision and energy. Harder to taste today but the wine's tactile palate-staining finish and uncanny energy suggest that it will be a real long-distance runner. Two-thirds of these vines were planted between 1965 and 1978 but the Clos de Bèze is older. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2017)

This was awesome, so powerful and mineral, big rich black cherries, game and mushroom galore nose, but not quite as aromatic as the clos de beze. Potent, tannic and mineral palate, broad and fresh, lovely floral finish that lasts a long time...outstanding burg! 2008 vintage.

Carafé 3 heures avant de servir afin qu’il puisse se livrer un peu, des notes de fruits noirs, terreux, épicé, plusieurs couches d’arômes au nez tout comme en bouche qui malgré la jeunesse est fort approchable, puissante mais avec une belle fraîcheur et quelle classe, superbe texture en bouche, beaucoup de vin dans cette bouteille, longueur impressionnante aussi. 94-95
Decanted 3 hours, dark fruit, spices, earthy, multiple layers of aromas and flavors on the palate too, powerful but fresh, classy and with depth and an amazing texture on the palate, quite an impressive length too.
