Domaine Barville
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend
2010 vintage. Still rather sturdy and structured. Fruit quality seems ripe and roasted, with red plum, raspberry, black cherry, tobacco, allspice, sagebrush. Seems like it still had quite a few years left in it.

Dec 2nd, 2021A fairly interesting Juxtapositioning of the C-D-P, and the Menorah, burning the Third night lights.
A touch of that classic decomposing stink, amd wild berry.
3 hours open, the fruit is dark, and mingled with tabac, anise, black, oil cured olives. Tannin and acid walk hand in hand splendidly, one, never overspeaking the other.
Young and full of years to come.

A shy fruit nose,, a nod of the high heat.
Two meet, and the dance begins.
One has all the colors, red and black raspberries, pomegranate stem of rose.
The other, dapper with black - anise, mint, earth and stone. A step from one and a step from the other, a flit of the skirt, a tip of the hat, a bow, a kiss, a dip, , a spin, a tango of the fruit and tannins, the herbaceous and acidity. Plucked from the dance floor a touch too early, with many dances left.
Such is the life of wine in my cellar.
Great producer, consistently great wine.

Dark, grippy, violets, minerals. Tastes very very young.

May 31st, 2018Roasted hazelnuts upon the first whiff - tight fruit starts to loosen into pips and skins. Big, bold and worth it. Could've lasted another 5, yet hey, it's Valentines.

1 person found it helpfulFeb 14th, 20172019 vintage. Medium-heavy body. A bit smoother than the 2018 vintage. Not quite as grippy. Still, not too shabby for the price. Plenty of punch and fruit to be found amongst the weightiness. 1.10.24.
