Domaine Arlaud
Les Millandes Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir
My continued quest to try as many 2022 Burgundies as possible.
The nose is darkish fruits & brooding with light earth tones & dark, withering florals.
Nice body and fresh, fruit entry on the palate. Dark cherries, poached strawberries, blackberries & some black raspberries. Shows dry, fine tannins. Dark, rich forest floor with dry leaves, herbaceous notes-bay leaf sticks out, dark refined spice, dry, grey volcanic clays, dry limestone power, some dark, steeped tea, light red cola, barrel shaving powder, bright red and dark florals, nice acidity and an elegant, balanced finish. Again, lacks some complexity at this stage. Perhaps, with more time it shows more complexity? Cellaring is in order here.

Tasting group. My 2nd, group 2nd. Cherry, sassafras. Very light color. Lovely integrated oak. WHLM’s 3rd.

Dec 3rd, 2018Ready for the cellat, but hard to resist already.
The nose was dark and alluring, showing ripe, crushed raspberry, cherry, mulling spices, hints of ripe apple, sweet herbs and minerals. On the palate, I found soft, silky textures with a bump of lively acidity, which added energy to it’s concentrate red fruit and hints of spice. It finished with a coating of red berry, crunchy minerals and inner floral tones. The Millandes is wonderfully balanced, should age well, and is very easy to like. #arlaud

Beautiful classic profile back in 2021. Dried small red berries, purple flowers, a touch of earth, iron core and mineral. Palate follows less austere, brighter and prettier
