Cuvée Les Vieilles Fontaines Cornas Syrah

I thought this was the most complete and elegant of the trio of ‘12 Cornas we opened. Dark fruited, sinewy, meaty and herbal, floral and spicy notes add interest to a long and dramatic finish. Plenty of life ahead

Rustic, classic bacon/meat/pepper…just so good..

A really fragrant wine. Strawberry, plum some green peppercorns. A sour note and a lovely broad complex midpalate. Young and pretty delicious.

2012 Vintage - very fresh cured meat, animal hide, pepper, boysenberry fruit (a lot of other than fruit aromas) med acidity went great with truffle flatbread

Magnum. Pepper, beef jerky, boysenberry, dark fruits, earth, bark and nice acid. Thanks Doug!

Very easy to like. Beautiful fruit with some nice pepper and slightly funky animalistic qualities

Medium bodied, iron-y, meaty, yet dare I say elegant for Cornas?

Fruitier style, richer body with more glycerin. Slightly higher abv, white pepper and red/black/blue fruits.

Another great one from last nights 2001 tasting at home. Served with grilled chicken thigh and spices of Hungarian paprika. Whoa!

Wound up and tight showing a lot of acid at the moment.
