Absolutely wonderful wine. Nice one to snag from a recent Manhattan Wine sale. Decanted 3+ hours, surprisingly accessible at this stage. Somewhat reticent on the nose, even after the decant. But so nice on the palate - perfect body, lots of red fruit, crunchy tart cherry, excellent acidity that hits very nicely in the mid to late palate that brings good zip. Tannins are there and ever so slightly chunky but doesn’t get in the way at all. Perfect with some simple roast chicken with mushrooms cooked in the chicken fat and jus.

I had the Villaine Chalonnaise Chardonnay years ago, and I finally got a hand on the Pinot Noir. Once again, the Chalonnaise delivers exceptional value packed with approachable flavors of red fruit, leather, spices, tinges of peppercorn, and clay. One of the easiest drinking Burgundies I've ever had, too. Lacks a bit of complexity in the finish, but nonetheless, outstanding wine.

Perfectly pleasant but can’t tell this one from the Les Montots TBH. To which this one is supposedly superior according to JS. I think the rum ice cream messed up my palate

Tasty. Light but complex with savory notes. Thanksgiving 2020 with duck.

2020 July. This had a bracingly intense, savory, mineral character - almost smoky.
