Demarie
Riserva Roero Nebbiolo
Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy

Jun 2025: tight and somewhat closed, not as approachable and lively as 2018, but definitely stronger, slowly recovers alittle in glass. Should hold, wait and see

Jun 2025: PnP ready. Nice nose, palate and balance, good Nebbiolo expression but lacks Barolo apellaton strength , somewhere at the level of DOC Langhe although a Riserva, Vieti’s Perbacco tastes even stronger for that matter

2021 vintage. Brash, sassy and unapologetic. Medium body. Under $20 USD resto cost on two cases. Woulda pounced but there's been a slew of excellent, cheap chicken Italian reds lately so all full up tho. This is in the notes just in case...03.26.25.

Mar 26th, 2025Went to the Demarie winery, started in the 70s by a guy and carried on by two sons. One of them, Paolo, explained in our tasting that this bottle, more than any represented his family and legacy. Paolo was a super nice guy so it would’ve been hard not to like this wine even if it tasted like spoiled vinegar. But I left persuaded that Roero is a legit appellation, which, at its best, can hang with Nebbiolos grown and bottled across the Tanaro in Barbaresco, thanks to the nice aromas of red fruits and leathery tones.

Baking spice with dried cherry. Nice soft fruit. Solid tannins with higher ABV 14.5. Hearty, fatty meal would pair nice
