From Magnum at a friends house for lunch - thank you Kiron. Delamotte is from the acclaimed house of Salon. At 20 years this was showing honeysuckle and diminished bubbles. Great intensity of flavour in this Blanc de Blancs.

Dec 30th, 2019Dull yellow gold. Nice fine bubbles. Citrus focused nose. Notes of lemon, bread yeast, wet stone and some white acacia flowers. Great energy in the mouth with a long finish. This is top notch juice. Still a baby.

Salon and Delamotte are two of my very favorite Champagne houses, and I've been fortunate enough to try some of the classics over the years. 2002 was a supremely great vintage and although utterly delicious the wine isn't quite at the revered level that the year and pedigree might suggest. Really energetic and drinking extremely well. Lemon and brioche abound. Bursts from the glass and sustains forever. Appealing now and lots of life ahead of it.
