De Bortoli
Villages Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Provides unreal value. Red cherry, strawberry, spice and woodsmoke. Youthful but good going now. Light to medium bodied, with a more dark fruited spectrum on the palate. It's energetic with juicy acid and fine ripe tannins. Duck Ragu pasta is definitely in order

Jul 17th, 2016Fairly pale and timid, this Pinot tastes wet and blushy with aromas of strawberry, blackcurrant and mild pepper that carry through the palate to a simple finish.

I visited De Bortoli’s Yarra Valley cellar door some years ago, so whenever I drink some of their wine it always brings back memories. This De Bortoli Villages 2017 Pinot Noir is from the @wine selectors ‘Family Favourites’ case. The case is made up of 12 bottles from Australia’s First Families of wines and includes a lovely magazine with more about the families and their favourites meals.

I do like the sound of matching risotto with Pinot!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My thoughts 💭 In the glass this Pinot is a bright ruby red shade. The nose is rather earthy with hints of mushroom intertwined with juicy plums and a whiff of smoke. While in the mouth it has lovely fresh acidity that would work so well with a creamy dish like risotto or even a bowl full of gnocchi 👌 Lovely satin-like finish too!

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

Nut, creamy, tastes better when gets little air

Sep 28th, 2016A little herbaceous, cranberry and spice. Nothing amazing but if you're looking for a cheap Pinot to smash down, it's a pretty good option.
