Inky color. Dense and aggressive on the palate. Nose is macho, with lots of pungent purply berry fruit, lots of graphite and dark minerals. Tannins aren’t too bad though. Maybe wasn’t the wisest pull on a 90 degree evening but it’s putting on a show.

Loads of unusual character here. Nose has pungent violets and cracked stone, and even an oceanic iodine element. Intensely zingy and minerally, light-bodied (12%) but rapier-like focus. A great value choice to cut through rich, rustic food.

Really unusual but fun nose: grapefruit rind, shrimp shells, boysenberry, and rock dust. Fresh and straightforward flavors of tangy dark berries and minerals, with lively acids and ending on a slightly bitter grapefruit rind note. Tastes a little like a cubist painter's take on wine.

Completely locked up and unyielding the first night. On night 2, it started to open up a little and showed licorice, crunchy black cherry, and dark stony minerals. Tight in the mouth still. Minerals and crunchy black cherry. Very good acids. Needs a couple of years ideally I think.

Medium ruby. Some dried berry and a hint of earth in the nose, muted. Noticeable CO2 on palate entry. In the mouth some floral/violet perfume shows up. Relatively simple. It was a good choice with a smoked pork bacon tomatoes sauce pasta.

Nice. A touch flabby, but certainly drinkable.

Deep purple. Blackberry jam. Tannins on the finish. Had no idea what to expect from this one, pleasantly surprised
