Delys Morgon Gamay
Great serious Morgon made in a more Burgundian style. Deep ripe black cherry fruit, pomegranate, blood orange, with acid and sweet tannins both medium and balanced. A darker, richer expression compared to the Lapierre (I prefer the brighter crunchier Lapierre in most cases). 16s are drinking great right now, grab em if you can.

Jun 24th, 2020I was expecting flab since the high-octane burgundy vintages are often overripe and boring in Bojo, but this was gorgeous. Still super lively and complex, I’ll be keeping an eye out for more good Morgon from 09 as it’s got great bones.

Apr 5th, 2020Nice nose. Plummy. Spice, cherries, some hints of mushroom. Nice. Palate is rich and ripe with good concentration and purity. Great precision as well. Last bottle was pretty meh. Loads of spice on the finish. Really balanced and shows a great side of 2009.

Jul 6th, 2019My first 2016 Morgon, I’m not thrilled, but it’s not this guy’s fault. Maybe a little too serious for itself.

Apr 30th, 2018Roses, tar, citrus, violets, mineral, sappy, airy, elegant, good structure, sappy and dense with amazing sweetness. Terrific showing.

Nov 20th, 2017Seemed a lot more like a Loire Cabernet Franc than a Beaujolais. Lots of green notes on the nose and palate. Meduim intensity with notes of green bell peppers, brussel sprouts, black licorice and unripe blackberry. Medium, drying tannins and finish.

This is what Beaujolais can be at its best - deep with medium acidity and soft ripe tannins, a touch gamey, earthy violet, crushed red fruit all poised to emerge with great complexity in two to three years. Lovely now and better in the future. BTW, with this great acid and fruit balance this is a great food wine
