Viña do Burato Ribeira Sacra Mencía
2014 vintage. This had great dark fruit and spice. Some oak and some lingering tannins. I'd love o try more bottles from here.

May 26th, 2016I can see why Mencía used to get confused with Cabernet Franc: herbaceous, with slightly underripe tannins, raspberries, and pencil shavings.

Apr 25th, 2016Interesting plastic notes that went really well with the bread and butter pickles we put on our super mega delicious burgers made with lamb, pork, and buffalo. We thought the usual Beaujolais would not cover it and this wine was particularly good with them 13% alcohol made it nice and food friendly. Some floral notes and lovely red currants and not a lot of oak at all.
