Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend

Spain European Champions 2024!!!! So happy I got to enjoy this while enjoying that. ❤️ 2015 and it still tasted so fresh!

So fitting to open this.

Last Sunday lunch with Roast Lamb. A 20 year old Rioja fitted the bill nicely. A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Aged in new French and American oak for 24 months. Aromatics of tobacco leaf, plum, ashphalt and a bit of tar. A medicinal note the following night. The palate is medium to full bodied with berry, plum and liquorice. Resolved Tannins - quite fluid. This was Wine Spectators No. 1 wine for 2013 and now drinking at its peak but could go on for another 5 years on the evidence of this superb wine.

Long and juicy with incredibly fine tannins.

Barnyard nose. High acid. Musty dusty potpourri. You like old flowers and grandma’s house? This is your deal! Haha.

Deep Ruby, aromas of red and black fruits with sweet spice and oak, a classical blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, barrel aged for 24 months. On the palate flavors of black cherry and currants with spice, espresso, vanilla & toasty oak tones. Fine tight tannins, lively acidity on a long finish ending with fruit, sweet spice and an earthy mineral character. Nice!

On the palate flavors of black cherry and currants with spice, espresso, vanilla & toasty oak tones. Soft full ripe tannins, lively acidity on a long finish ending with fruit, spice and an earthy mineral character. Nice!

Desiccated red fruit, blood, leather, iron, hoisin, sweet and sour, soy sauce, coconut, clove. Medium acidity, medium+ smooth dusty tannins.

Vintage 2015 | cedar and red fruit. Awesome balance. Lots of potential.
