1994 vintage. Well-crofted indeed. The nose is rather discrete initially. Still a lot of fruit in the mouth, with fresh acidity and silky tannin. While it does not have the depth and power of Taylor's and Fonseca in this extraordinary vintage, there is a lot to like. Give it time to open up.

2003 vintage. Rich, silky, still quite youthful. Rum raisin, stewed cherry, raspberry coulis, dark cocoa, chocolate-covered espresso bean, something a little medicinal, harsher manifestation of cinnamon, bark.

Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby color with purple edges, aged for about 20 months on oak. The port wine displays a complex nose with ripe fruits and sweet spice. On the palate ripe sweet juicy blackberry and cherry flavors emerge, velvety and smooth. Tannins are present and tight and chewy, well balanced. Long finish ending with ripe juicy fruit, spice and  slight earthy character, not as big as ‘16 but, Very Nice! Can drink now but will develop over next decade!

Vibrant acidity. Great fruit. Another taster described it more as ‘orange marmalade’ than red fruit. I think he was right on. Nice and probably at a plateau for at least another decade.

Wow. One of the best bottles of port I’ve ever had. Light and delicate at this point. Confected red berries, fig, red wine vinegar, and a distinct smokiness. Epic.
