Cristom
Sommers Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
The last bottle, so sad but what a treat to enjoy anyway. Smoky and bold but elegant with sustaining super-structure. Just wish we had another case :)

Jul 8th, 2018Theres a sort of charred cedar/sassafrass on the nose that seems to weave through the wines of this vineyard and very pronounced here. Pallette is supple, good structure and grilled cherries, wild herbs on the finish. This wine almost dances in a way thats graceful but also untamed. Anyways, its damn good.

Mar 31st, 2017Superb Pinot. At five retaining a presence of fruit, the balanced back palate acidity working beautifully with a range of dishes.

Mar 25th, 2017On the nose, savory grilled meats, bright mid & dark red fruits with black cherry licorice. Nice evolution but for me, this will continue to improve with time. Better in 2-3 more years. It's savory on the palate with grilled meats mirroring the nose. Fruits are darker on palate than the nose. Starts with ripe blackberries, dark cherries, plum followed by cherries and strawberries. Dry dark roses and fresh violets, red & black licorice, rich dark earth, subtle spice & baking spices with decent acidity and a polished fruit finish. A strong value at $24.99.

Sep 5th, 2016Recently released, the wine is comprised of grapes from four of Cristom's estate vineyards, along with purchased fruit from 14 vineyard. Ruby with aromas of red berry fruit and spice. On the palate cherry and raspberry, almost sweet with hints of orange citrus and spice. Full tannins reveal this powerhouse will be happy sitting in the cellar for a while. The finish is well balanced and ends with oaky notes. Very nice.
