Slightly hazy appearance, and slightly muted color, aromas of tar and ash, clearly #oregonpinotnoir

Apr 26th, 2019Strawberry cotton candied bramble of a nose.
Light bodied, with colorful layers of acidity. Specific, precise fruits show themselves one by one, bing cherry, fresh off the bush raspberry, fresh off the bush blueberry, hints of cola. The acidity is so well integrated, it picks up dead center and follows through way past the end, a finish to a finish, if you would. This is an excellent wine. Cris and Tom have never let me down.

Black currant, forest floor, button mushroom, cranberry. Not only do I love the people who make this wine, I love everything Cristom does- time after time this wine never disappoints. I want to drink this with every holiday meal! #oregonpinotnoir @cristomwine #cristom #willamettevalley

Earth and fruit. Aromatic. From half bottle.
Aug 7th, 2018Smells of berry, cinnamon, Coffee.
Light to medium, with twigs and branches, christmas pepper berries, tip of the tongue acidity. The balance will certainly be better in a few years, I am totally drinking this way too young. Long day of flying, I do not recommend the hot read chile sauce I picked up this am with this wine. That’s for breakfast.

Wednesday night and I have opened the 2016 Cristom Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
On the nose there is beautiful fruit, cherry, cranberry, raspberry, clove, matchbook, smoke, wet leaves and earth.
On the palate there is bing cherry, cranberry, raspberry, clove, spice, hibiscus and earth.
This wine is medium bodied and a smooth mouthfeel with medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that moves into a medium to long spicy dark fruit finish. Only two more days left to the work week and then the weekend. Stay safe and have a great rest of the week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

My favorite Mt. Jefferson bottle so far, which comes as no surprise; the 2016 vintage is one for the ages. This screams brambly raspberry, savory spice and taut minerality but there is a deft restraint on the palate that I find here even in the most effusive and ripe of vintages. Fresh, vibrant, classy. Simply a lovely Pinot Noir.
