2016. Just popped and double-decanted. Within minutes it’s singing. Such a classic Brunello nose of deep, dark brandy-macerated cherry fruit, iron, tilled dry earth, warm terra cotta tiles, some tertiary old library furniture notes. Deep and balanced in the mouth, it’s large-framed but has the fruit and enough acid to carry it. Tannins still there but starting to fade into the background. Fairly long finish. A Wednesday night treat!

This is not the Riserva (it’s the regular Brunello), but it’s really nice. Complex nose feautures dark cherry, balsamic notes, warm gravel. Rich, focused, and concentrated, loads of sandstony earthy notes, rich dark fruit. Lots of soft tannin. Long finish. Just entering its drinking window.

Could have used a little more time. Rich fruit, some earth- reminded me of my Nonno’s cantina. Bit tannic still, but very nice with peposo.

Very good - not great. Nose on opening was lovely with muted earthy dark fruits. A bit tannic on opening so not describing first glass. Next day the tannins and acidity were balanced and the flavors were again earth forward with dark berries, fig, balsamic with clove, tobacco/leather. Moderately long finish. All the components of a good Brunello are there - except for the “wow” factor of a pop of the flavors and layers of the experience.

Very nice brunello di montalcino bought at Costco for $40. Light with some dark notes, easy and drinkable. Very good example of this style. Would buy again.
