Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Absolutely delicious for the price—fresh, unfussy, lifted cherry fruit complemented by a bit of structure and spice. Wanted to drink more but needed it for braising

Also smuggled from DE. Best Montepulciano I can remember having. Obviously the perfect complement to some focaccia-based ‘Za from the estimable Merzbacher’s bakery in Germantown.

Anise/licorice, cherry, slightly candied fruit and an underlying earthiness on the nose. Med-bodied/med-tannin, minerality, slight chalk, cherry licorice and a hint of raisin on the palate. Great montepulciano for the price :)

Average montepulciano, drinkable. Lacks body and tannins aren't as refined. Blackberries and cassis up front, some herbal/vegetal notes in the middle, and more herbaceousness towards the end. Med-high acidity. Don't remember how much I paid for this so not sure if worth the cost - wouldn't pay more than $20 for this.

For the price this is great. Black pepper and spice, some tannic structure. Very dry with a little bit of underripe black fruit. This would be the perfect house wine for a pizza joint.

Easy, light, simple. Thin textured.

Kinda carbonic fruit some nice spice a little lighter than I expected- don't hate it just a little lighter than I expected

Blackberry gelatin gummy candy, black plum, slightly floral. Feels like a still Lambrusco. Excellent acid/tannin balance.
