Bright and clear dark ruby. Nose and palate of black cherry, black tea, and a bit it birchy wood. A bit of a tarry finish. Medium body, medium plus tannins, and medium acidity. Food is definitely its friend, but if you’re just looking for a Tuesday night by-the-glasser, it’s at home there, too.

Bright red purple in the glass. Nose of black cherry and black tea. Medium palate yields black cherry, earthy black tea, and a bit of licorice whip. No discernible oak, so it’s all that typical Willamette dark fruit. Medium tannins are a welcome surprise at this price point, and with the medium plus acidity makes it just as at home with a meal as own its own as a sipper. The good folks at Samuel Robert have upped the “entry level” bar substantially. White flesh fish and citrusy dishes might be a challenge, but enjoy with pretty much anything else. Sustainable, too!

Fruit-forward, which is not my usual taste in Pinot Noir, but this is extremely tasty. Very subdued aroma, but on the taste, just a hint of the autumn leaves flavor that I love in Pinot Noir with raspberry jam, black cherry, and a bit of astringency. A hint of tomato on the finish. Yum!

2020 vintage. Terrible, tastes like smoke. They should not sell this as a drinkable wine.

Soft, low acid, easy to drink. Flavor tapers off pretty quickly, but great with beef or chicken. Great price at Total Wine Fairfax.
