Quite enjoyable Fairly complex nose that ranges from a dark cherry and blueberry to rose petals, tar, incense, leather and a touch of licorice Long after taste It is a real pity the dusty tannin that doesn't exalt the wine at all

This wine nicely straddles the line between an accessible Nebbiolo and a crisper high-altitude red. There is an interesting note of mint in the aroma. Firm acids but not too sharp. Well integrated red with with bright berry flavors, and dusty, mild, tannins.

Lovely purity of berry compote along with an underlying ferrous, rusty nail type iron mineral character. With time in the glass there’s also some very attractive almond paste or pie crust notes, dried cranberry and yoghurt covered raisins. In the mouth it’s incredibly approachable with fine grained tannins that are very well interpreted into the red currant and cranberry fruit. It’s refreshing, approachable and very food friendly as the acidity seems to be perfectly ripe in this vintage. Don’t think I’ve tasted a better vintage of this in the past 5 years or so. As with most Italians, food will elevate this. 👌🏽

Alto Piemonte never disappoints. Northerly Nebbiolo married with Croatina and Vespolina is always a go for me. Most importantly, don't sleep on Cristiano Garella!
