Colgin Cellars
Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California, USA

Popped and poured; enjoyed out of red Solo cups over the course of a few hours. The 1993 “Herb Lamb” pours a deep garnet/purple with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and significant sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with heady notes of mostly ripe and some desiccate fruit: black currants, blackberries, black plum, a mix of red and purple flowers, tobacco, Poblano pepper, leather, cocoa, some tilled earth and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Delicious. This was an outstanding showing. Drink now through 2033+

Last week was a combo of 4th Friday and Open That Bottle Night on back to back nights. Needless to say, the lineup between both days was full of heavy hitters, so I’m only posting standout bottles.
My second time to have this, and I think it showed slightly better (or maybe different?). Ready to go at pop. Lots of sweet and fresh fruits here like raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, plum with cedar, grilled peppercorns and violets. Dense on the palate but not overwhelming. A distinct sweetness to it. Licorice, baked mixed berry pie, baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. If you have any, this is a good time to open.

Really lovely dark fruit. Violets and intense blueberry. This has gorgeous clarity and suppleness. Delicious.
