Clos Saron
Heart of Stone Sierra Foothills Syrah
Amazing. Almost as awesome as the 2006. Somehow funk / fresh / and mature at the same time with deft balance between savory, fruit, acid, and smooth tannic structure. Unlike the 2006, this started to fade a few hours in where the 06 kept on going.

Feb 8th, 2015Just an amazing expression of Terroir, totally naked and brilliantly balanced, including dusty tannins and dito minerality, Syrah spice and a meat stock infused finish. Note to Self - Clos Saron rules!

May 10th, 2014Way out in left field for the first 3-4 hours after decanting, then dropped into a beautiful forest floor packed with dense fruit. If you aren't giving Gideon's older reds a chance to really breathe you do everyone a disservice, and this wine only reaffirmed that for me.

Apr 15th, 2016An absolutely beautiful Syrah--tannins still going strong, acid singing. Spice abounds!

Jan 24th, 2015VA off the charts, but then that receded to show wet oak leaves after ~3 hours in the decanter. Then mushrooms, and finally a glorious blend of forest floor, bright acidity and cola fruit. A roller coaster to be sure, but patience and air are definitely required. Thank you for this, @John Donaghue !
