Interestingly Clos Henri is organically farmed by the famous Sancerre wine growing family of Henri Bourgeois. 10 generations of know how with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

This really grew on me over a couple hours. A brooding wine, especially relative to any PN I've tasted from NZ. The black cherry and watermelon have matured and melded together and combined with a sweet, herbaceous vegetal note (red beets?), which is all backed up with baking spice, sandy loam and some secondary Worcestershire sauce.

Delicious. Best NZ pinot I've had in some time.

Brett was a bit noticeable but the most Burgundian style Pinot I've had from New Zealand

Not a huge fan, but not a terrible wine either. Macerated cherries, dried rose petals, leather and a slightly unpleasant vinegar note, kind of stings the nostrils. Much younger on the palate, cranberries, raspberries and green bell pepper.

Med + nose of ripe raspberries, red cherries, mushrooms, clove, sandalwood, and roses. A matching palate with a long finish. Very good.

Graphite, strawberry, white pepper and baking spice. Smooth tannins although grippy for a PN. 2015 tasted in 2021
