Clos du Val Wine Co.
Estate Hirondelle Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Stags Leap District, Napa Valley, California, USA

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa Valley.
Deep ruby in color, almost Inky, with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blackberries, black plums, blackcurrants, cooked cherries, cedar, figs, raisins, chocolates, light vanilla, licorice, coffee and peppercorn.
Full-bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and long long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate, with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, earth, cedar, leather, chocolates, tobacco leaf, licorice, black pepper, spices, light herbs, graphite and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious young Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap District in Napa Valley. Rich and extracted and nicely balanced. Tangy and tasty. Exactly what you expect from a Napa Valley Cabernet.
Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Drinking very nicely already, although still young.
Good right out of the bottle, but much better after 3 hours of airtime, when the complexity and structure come in, so be patient.
A delicious wine that will age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
A good wine to sip on all by itself, but a big piece of steak would be a great pairing, too. Nicely balanced and fruit forward.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. A small production of only 29 barrels.
14.6% alcohol by volume
93 points.
$125.

I was craving a big Cab tonight and man, this hit the spot. It’s a bit young but is opening up nicely.
