Pear and apple notes on nose and palate - a touch of ginger. M+ intensity on the medium bodied palate - low acid. Coincidentally, last night I was at the Yalumba dinner at the Downs Club and sitting near Louisa Rose, ex winemaker and now Ambassador for Yalumba. Nobody in Australia would know more about the Viognier grape than Louisa. Yalumba pioneered its use and “The Virgilius” would be the leading example in Australia but this Clonakilla is also outstanding.

See previous notes. My last bottle of what was an excellent Viognier. This was mid Lemon in colour. Notes of pear and honeysuckle. Palate whilst being delicate has great texture with real persistence. Isn’t as unctuous or with the concentration of a Condrieu but wonderful nonetheless. Drinking at its peak.

First of 2 Viogniers served blind. Classic with more acid than the 2nd. Apricot descriptors. Refreshing and excellent. Clonakilla better known for its excellent Shiraz Viognier.

Very pale Lemon in colour. Small oak influence on the nose with some nutty aromas. On the palate great texture, mouthfeel and balance- some pear and a touch of honey. Excellent new world Viognier without the concentration of a top shelf Condrieu.

Ripe pear and delicate floral/musk aromas. The palate has pear and white peach fruits ripened to perfection with perfect acidity, tightly wound, ensuring a long cellaring life.

Very pale - just a tinge of lemon. Floral aromatic notes with some honeysuckle. Clean fresh fruit flavours with a light oak touch and unctuous full mouthfeel. Great intensity and acid - a refreshing finish.

Holding up very well. A little cheesy, but good aromatics and structure. I think it's peak was probably a few years ago, but still a lot of fun!

IMO Viognier is best drunk very early, very late or blended with Shiraz - I found this wine to be flabby and featureless and I suspect it was going through that ordinary patch where the fruit is fading and the secondary characters have not yet developed - would love to try one at 20 yrs

Lovely and smooth. Lots of citrus and a really nice finish. Perfect for a birthday dinner.

Voluptuous, so generous in flavor and mouth feel. Australia’s best Viognier. Layers of fruit and spice. Love it!
