Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir

Drinking so well young. Powerful as all get out, darker berry and black tea. Screams balance.

Got to pop some special bottles when my good friend Shawn came in to town!

What a bottle brought by Shawn! I asked him to bring a killer bottle of burgundy that he thought would impress and he nailed it. At 23/24 yrs old, the concentration here was impeccable. Surprisingly dark in the glass with a slightly fading rim, wafting from the glass were muddled and stewed raspberries, blackberries, pomegranate, clove and forest floor. Acidity carries this well on the palate with a resolved and balanced profile. Slightly chewy, showing the power of the fruit, with sweet tobacco and cedar at the finish. This still has years to go! Pretty aromas. Earthy flavors.

Sandalwood, Rose, tart black cherry, musk, orange peel, orange pekoe tea. Bright and easy drinking now... surprisingly approachable and elegant for GC... most likely indicative of the vintage.

Dark ruby color with aromas of cherry, raspberry, and licorice. Ripe red fruits on the palate with good acidity, fine grained tannins, and good length. A very nice village level bottling. $120.

Thus 2014 is singing #bourgogne #gevreychambertin

Definitely young and primary but already very approachable and very enjoyable!

Very youthful and in need of more time in the cellar. Dark fruit and gripping.

Just not my style. A little dark and stormy.

Solid wine. Bigger style than I normally go for still well made.
