Chimney Rock
Tomahawk Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Outstanding. 2006, still has youth and firm tannins. Very herbal, dried black fruits, black pepper, long long finish.

Mar 13th, 2018Third of the blind red wines at this quarter's S&E Wine Club, which for red was either Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Merlot from either Rutherford or Stags Leap District. Thanks Dave and Jenna!
Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Candied cherries on the nose with dark cocoa and a touch stinky. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, bramble berries and black cherries. Long and lingering finish. A bit stern even with a four and a half hour decant. Drink till 2027.

Third red wine at Table #1 at Oakton Wine Shops Bucket List Tasting.
Dark purplish ruby red that completely coats the glass. A bit mute to start on the nose, with petrol to start with some tight dark berries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and solid acidity. Quite a bit of oak on the palate with red cherries, touch of earth, and twigs. Medium plus to full bodied. Very dry and long finish. Needs a little more time to fully develop. Drink from 2018 till 2028.

Mocha and caramel, dark and red fruits. Giving but not at all heavy. Dry tannins. A tasty example of a Napa Cab for a couple of Brits more used to wines from the Old World.

May 2nd, 2015So true to its varietal characteristics. Notes of bell pepper and camphor, cedar and black currant. A faint hint of violets? Very extracted with a tenacious finish.

Apr 29th, 2015More oak, fine-grained tannins. Silky structure with an underlying minerality. Delicious.
