Outstanding. 2006, still has youth and firm tannins. Very herbal, dried black fruits, black pepper, long long finish.

Third of the blind red wines at this quarter's S&E Wine Club, which for red was either Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc or Merlot from either Rutherford or Stags Leap District. Thanks Dave and Jenna!

Dark ruby core with garnet edges. Candied cherries on the nose with dark cocoa and a touch stinky. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Layered palate with dark berries, spices, bramble berries and black cherries. Long and lingering finish. A bit stern even with a four and a half hour decant. Drink till 2027.

Third red wine at Table #1 at Oakton Wine Shops Bucket List Tasting.

Dark purplish ruby red that completely coats the glass. A bit mute to start on the nose, with petrol to start with some tight dark berries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and solid acidity. Quite a bit of oak on the palate with red cherries, touch of earth, and twigs. Medium plus to full bodied. Very dry and long finish. Needs a little more time to fully develop. Drink from 2018 till 2028.

So true to its varietal characteristics. Notes of bell pepper and camphor, cedar and black currant. A faint hint of violets? Very extracted with a tenacious finish.

More oak, fine-grained tannins. Silky structure with an underlying minerality. Delicious.

Lots of cool fruit, tight and tannic, medium-plus acid. Can't wait to see where this is in four or five years. Well made, good balance.

The nose brings me right back to the patio on their beautiful estate. The aroma is full of jammy cassis, blackberries, fresh cut cedar, and a hint of pepper. Full bodied palate and gorgeous tannins suggest this wine could age another couple decades. The palate gives you everything and more that you are looking for in a Napa Cab. This one shows a darkness and depth that makes it unique.
