Chimney Rock

Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Similar to Caymus, but more balanced and structured. Didn’t need much decanting for the red fruit to take the lead. — 20 days ago

Neagles Rock

Clare Valley Riesling 2008

My 6th and last of this delicious Clare Valley Riesling. Notes of Quince and Paraffin. On the palate mouthfilling Quince Notes with some moreish bitterness. Medium minus acids. Lovely aged Riesling from one of Australia’s best Districts for the varietal. — 19 days ago

High Rock Ranch Syrah 2012

Really enjoyable Syrah. This is a crazy nose of herbs, black fruit, burgundian profile with a hint of grilled meat. The competition was tough in the perspective of it being enjoyed alongside a Cayuse Bionic Frog, SQN B20, a Long Shadows Sequel, and a Chave L'Hermitage but it held up to the competition IMO and was no less or more capable than any of them. Entry is dark yet very rounded. Middle with even a bit of cocoa nit dark and black. A little bit of tar. Finished with good acid and grip. This can go another 5 to 7 years easy, maybe even 10. Nice nice syrah. My thoughts on this wine have scored it as low as 92 and as high as 96. Really awesome QPR when considering what it was up against! Nice wine @Shay A ! — a month ago

Red Icon Estate Grown Malbec Blend 2015

Shay A
8.9

With only 11% Malbec, it seems to have way more. Dirty licorice, blackberry, currant and plum on the nose. Very little acidity. Almost flabby but the finish shows powerful tannin. A bit bitter with cedar, dark chocolate, and underripe blackberry. Needs a decant if enjoying now. — 10 days ago

Chimney Rock

Tomahawk Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The nose brings me right back to the patio on their beautiful estate. The aroma is full of jammy cassis, blackberries, fresh cut cedar, and a hint of pepper. Full bodied palate and gorgeous tannins suggest this wine could age another couple decades. The palate gives you everything and more that you are looking for in a Napa Cab. This one shows a darkness and depth that makes it unique. — a month ago

Robert Young Estate Winery

Big Rock Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

LOCKED. UP. Tasted three 14 Cabs over 3 nights: 1 from Montagu, 1 from William Harrison and this one. Out of all 3, this one is the most tannic. The most restricted. And the one with perhaps the most potential. Opened with a great red berry nose, herbal. Middle is black cherry, olive, medium to full bodied. After 2 hours, showing more in the front. Will be more integrated in 2020. — 20 days ago

About 2 hours after writing this note, it finally started coming around. These wines historically very locked up but I thought this one might have been ready to go. I think the rest of the bottles need to age one year
