Absolutely needs another 8 years if not more. Rich, lush, lots of ripe black fruits, cedar and spice. Tannins are smooth. With a bit more age all should integrate and fruit should subside.

There are a few key components missing in order to match the solid expression of dark fruit. Personally, I'd like to see more acidity and perhaps sturdier tannin expression. Wonderful expression of the fruit and easy to drink with family over a casual dinner, but I believe in a competitive tasting of its peers, this wine would get slapped around a bit.

Rum-soaked silky plums, cran-red currant jelly, smoky oak and toast on the nose. Integrated tannins that emerge with muscle only after the smoke has cleared. Plum and raspberry, blackberry juice and equal amounts of mint and tarragon sweet tobacco notes, cinnamon and vanilla. This screams french oak, but the result is svelte, silphish, tapered, elegant. Like Gloria Vanderbilt piped onto an elaborate pastry. I can see the appeal, though I think this one benefitted from additional sediment. A popular style with reason, but a hint of terroir too.

WOW so good! cassis, coco power, leather, pipe tobacco, clove, espresso, and pencil shavings. rich and round with silky tannins evolving to grainy and lengthy. oh and there’s actually some bright acid on the finish!!
