Château Vieux Robin
Médoc Cru Bourgeois Red Bordeaux Blend
Really tight. Needs another 8-10yr. Dark and dry tannins. Tastes best on day three!

Jun 19th, 2018So good! Very intense, still fresh and lively. A beautiful core of fruit, currant, blackberry, raspberry, complimented by a rocky minerality, cedar, tobacco, and leather, plus a savory background. Nice tannins, very well integrated, very long.

1 person found it helpfulOct 23rd, 2021Average at very best. Smooth, lightest bodied, and overly simple. Needs at least an hour out of the bottle to develop a semblance of drinkability.

Jan 20th, 2015Moderately aged Cru Bordeaux, really opens up in 45-60 min, I'm a little confused but interested. Dusty red grape notes and salty meat

Dec 4th, 2014Silky tannins and nice acidity round out the red fruit in this excellent left banker. The 42% merlot is really showing through. Could've sat for another 10 years.

Sep 14th, 2014Great storage on this one. Perfect match for a Wagyu Filet Mignon K&L notes as follows Perfect drinking 29 year old Bordeaux for about $1 per year! I love their 2004, but this wine is even better. 1995 was great Merlot year in Bordeaux and the grape shines through here. Sweet and fresh on the palate. The nose has some bottle Bouquet and touch of blueberry aromas. It is still lush on the palate. An old Bill Blatch find in the 80s. And it will cellar some more years with out a problem. Buy it by the case and enjoy with a short rib or lamb dish.
Drink from 2023 to 2032

May 26th, 2023Great cork & freshness, needs air to fully evaluate,
K&L notes as follows
This property was a Bill Blatch favorite-and as usual I have never visited the property which is located in Begadan. Château Vieux Robin is a family owned Cru Bourgeois estate located in Begadan at the far north of the Médoc. 5th generation owners Maryse and Didier Robin have made huge strides in terms of quality since they took over in 1988. Didier Robin, who learnt his trade at Château Clarke, is a skilled winemaker and now produces 4 different cuvées of ascending quality. There are only 18 hectares of vines and Vieux Robin is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Old school Bordeaux with 12% alcohol. Over 20 years old and still lively and fresh. No fancy oak here-just good Merlot and Cabernet.
