Château Porto Carras
Côtes de Meliton Red Blend
History began in the early 60's when first vineyards were planted in 1965. Since 2000, the company has changed ownership after late 90's financial difficulties, the new owners committed to raise Carras' reputation. A blend of mostly Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Limnio & Merlot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and smoky spice. On the palate plum and blackberry with smoky tobacco and leather notes. Medium tannins and acidity, ending with earthy spice.

Oct 14th, 2020History began in the early 60's when shipowner Yiannis Karras captured the idea of combining a holiday destination with the production of wines. The first vineyards were planted in 1965. Since 2000, the company has changed ownership after late 90's financial difficulties, the new owners committed to raise Carras' reputation. Interesting wine a blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot and Limnio. Spicy aromas that carry to palate. Medium finish still tasting well.

Sep 14th, 2017Made by Emile Peynaud, this is a world class Greek Cabernet Sauvignon easily mistaken for Bordeaux. After 11 years the wine shows classic muted cassis, loamy earth, unique dustiness and an elegant completeness that is difficult to describe, some forest floor/compost, but clean and crafty with plenty of fruit and verve left for my palate. The wine begs for roast pork or a flat iron steak with reduction and mushrooms. A Cab for Burghounds, mature, soft, complex with cut in the finish. Brilliant for the money.

Dried dates, raisins and fresh blackberry on the nose with some spicy cedar scents. Tastes really nice, lots of extracted black fruit and pepper. Long vanilla cinnamon finish. Good stuff.
