A version 4 years younger that is pure fruit, delicate as the 2001 but maybe less developed, less complex. Nothing wrong with that, though 😸. Apparently the winemaker, Monsieur Papin, is called "the poet of Chenin Blanc" by the revered Andrew Jefford and if he said so my only aim is to look for more Papins to corroborate through a field research. Oct 8th, 2016A mildly amber colour that makes me think of shrivelled grapes covered in mold. Too ethereal (light) to be a sweet wine, therefore I'd have it as an aperitif too. Apricots and honey and orange marmalade and walnuts and marzipan, tangy aftertaste. Not a cultural milestone like a Sauternes or a Tokaji but excellent in its own league. #cheninlikeadiamond #cheninblanc #loire #botrytis #sweetwine #noblerot #anjou #saumur #beaulieu

Moderately dark color, but still fresh, with overt luscious sweetness, though with plenty of acidity to keep it from being cloying. Not monumentally complex, but it's hard to stop drinking it.
